"e-mail has become the new snail mail"

E-mail is so last millennium. Young people see it as a good way to reach an elder _ a parent, teacher or a boss _ or to receive an attached file. But increasingly, the former darling of high-tech communication is losing favor to instant and text messaging, and to the chatter generated on blogs and social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace.

  1. I remember a conversation with a former English teacher over the toll emails were taking on people's language, and the sort of lazy spellings and grammatical errors that would creep into everyday writing and speech.

    Wonder what she'd think now with the way text messages and comment exchanges via blogs/networking sites/IM programmes like MSN & AIM are dominating.
